Many people believe that Detroit is the birthplace of Techno. The early success of Detroit’s techno scene was largely due to the work of the Belleville Three; Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, three high school friends from Belleville who made EDM tracks in their basements.
The popularity of their music led to Techno blowing up all over Detroit. This particular style of techno is mostly known for its use of analog synthesizers and old school drum machines. Although Detroit Techno was biggest in the 1980’s and 90’s, the genre remains popular today. These are the 3 most famous Detroit techno DJs.
